About this book

Everybody knows Tracy Beaker, Jacqueline Wilson's best-loved character. But what do they know about Jacqueline herself? In this fascinating book, discover: how Jacky played with paper dolls like April in Dustbin Baby; how she dealt with an unpredictable father like Prue in Love Lessons; how she sat entrance exams like Ruby in Double Act. But most of all how Jacky loved reading and writing stories. Losing herself in a new world was the best possible way she could think of spending her time. From the very first story she wrote, Meet the Maggots, it was clear that this little girl had a very vivid imagination. But who would've guessed that she would grow up to be the mega-bestselling, award-winning Jacqueline Wilson!

Jacqueline Wilson takes a look back at her own childhood in this captivating story of friendships, loneliness, books, toys, parents and much more. She explores her early years with the same warmth and lightness of touch that imbues her novels and covers such difficult issues as her parents' extra-marital affairs with delicacy.

With photographs and new illustrations by Nick Sharratt, this book is a delight for all of Jacky's fans, and a treat for any new readers too.

Red House Readers say...

As you know Jacqueline Wilson is quite famous writer and most people have heard of her books; but how well do you really know her?
Jacqueline Wilson had a similar life style to us, she lived with her mum and dad and had no brothers or sisters.

She asks you questions about her books and then answers them and then puts in a clip from the book which encourages you to read it.
I would recommend this book for 9-12 year old children. I think lots of people will like it because Jacqueline Wilson books are very popular and people would be very interested in finding out more about Jacqueline Wilson's early life. I think it could do with some photographs of her. I think it is a very good book and lots of people will enjoy it!!

Jacky Daydream is all about Jacqueline Wilson as a child and she is one of my favourite authors so I was thrilled to receive it. She has written it in the style of her own books and has captions from one of her books at the end of every chapter. You learn a lot of different things about her and where she got a lot of her book ideas from. She talks about how her parents were not always happy and she doesn’t try to make her life seem really glamorous which makes the book even more appealing as you feel she was just a normal school girl. This is a fantastic book and I strongly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Jacqueline Wilson’s books.

"Jacky Daydream"

I completely love this book! Jacqueline Wilson is my favourite author so reading about her childhood excites me! I recommend this book to 9-12 year olds! It's hilarious to see that her childhood was quite similar to ours but in some ways so different! My favourite part is when she writes about her schooldays!

"Boring"

1

I usually like Jacqueline Wilson's fabulous books but this one, not so much. The reason why is that her other stories are usually so modern but I find old fashioned books boring. Some 10-14 year olds would like this.
