About this book
In Fallen, Lauren Kate introduces 17-year-old Lucinda who is trapped in a grim and regimented reform school as well as being at the mercy of dark, shadowy presences that she cannot control. Lucinda is irresistibly drawn to the character of Daniel but he is seemingly repelled by her. Can the pair overcome the forces that are conspiring to keep them apart? The twists and turns of this stylish and haunting novel will enthrall readers from 12+. Fans of Fallen should read Twilight by Stephenie Mayer.
Red House Readers say...
This book really fills a Twilight-shaped hole!! Anyone who has read Twilight will adore this. And probably about a million people who haven't read it will enjoy Fallen as well. I definitely did!! Luce sees shadows, and recently, whenever they are present, someone dies. It's not her fault, but everyone links her to the deaths. Then she goes to Sword & Cross reform school, and meets Daniel Grigori. Handsome, confident, irresistible...and totally uninterested. But Luce has a feeling that she's met him before...and not only met him, but loved him. Why does she have such a strong sense of déjà vu? Why do the shadows avoid her when Daniel's around? And what about her strange dreams of flying...? Something's not right, and it's up to Luce to work out what. This is an absolutely perfect book for anyone who doesn't have a gorgeous vampire or angel for a boyfriend. That is to say, everyone. I don't think it's fair to compare Fallen to Twilight, as everyone seems to be doing. But let's just say that I love Fallen, and I'm sure that every girl from twelve to 99 will agree with me. Because you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll fall in love. And, in the end, if a book does all that, it can't really get much better. So curl up on the sofa for an hour or two with a fallen angel. Heaven!
