Percy Jackson & the Sea of Monsters was a brilliant book full of suspense and action. It's all about when Percy and his friends set off on a quest to save their friend Grover and to save Camp Half Blood, the camp for kids with a god as one of their parents. Their quest faces them with all sorts of evil opponents including the evil sorceress Circe who turns Percy into a guinea pig and the Cyclops who tries to eat them. In the end they manage to get the magical golden fleece which saves the camp.

My favourite character was Annabeth as she was so determined to save her friend and to save on of her most favourite places in the world. My favourite part in the book was at the end when Thalia, daughter of Zeus, comes back to life.

I would recommend this book for children over 11 years as some of the parts of the book may be upsetting for young children, due to the scary nature of some of the characters.

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan is the brilliant, much-awaited sequel to last years' Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. After all the excitement the year before, Percy has had a quiet year at school with no monsters involved. But a game of dodgeball changes things as the school bully Matt Sloan is made captain of one team and Percy is made captain of the other. Matt has a team of new children who are visiting, who are a bit strange as on their HI! MY NAME IS ... tags they have names like Marrow Sucker and Skull Eater. But as soon as the game starts they start growing taller and turn into eight foot giants with pointy teeth and hairy arms with tattooes of snakes and Valentine hearts... Percy and his friends must now start on a mission that will take them into the murky, dangerous Sea of Monsters where they will have to fight for their lives... This book is great and is packed with loads of action so read it or you will have missed out!
