Red House Readers say...
I enjoyed reading it immenselyThis book transports its readers back to Ancient Rome and the year 61 BC. Marcus is eleven years old and tall for his age. He belongs to the staff of Emperor Julius Caesar, who has chosen him to undergo gladiator training. However, in addition to sword and battle training, Marcus now faces an even bigger challenge: he is to infiltrate a rival street gang which is planning to assassinate Julius Caesar. Will he be able to carry out this extremely dangerous assignment without revealing his true identity?
Marcus is an endearing character whose life you will want to follow, and this is a novel whose pages you will keep on turning as you learn more and more about Ancient Rome. I enjoyed reading it immensely and am glad that there will be further books in the 'gladiator' series to look out for!
