About this book
Red House Readers say...
"I highly recommend it - a page-turning 5/5"Maddy, Liam and Sal are all teenage members of TimeRiders, a clandestine time travelling organisation tasked with protecting history. In City of Shadows, the sixth book in the series, the team are running from futuristic robots, programmed to kill them. They flee their base in 2001 New York and head to Victorian London with their two cyborg 'support units'. But they make a mind-blowing discovery and lose the only person who could have helped - will anything remain the same? Having devoured the earlier TimeRider adventures, I was eagerly awaiting City of Shadows - I wasn't disappointed. The plot is unpredictable and the most exciting to date - as far from 'more of the same' as you can get! It's great as a standalone novel but I'd recommend travelling back to the earlier books first as quite a bit is revealed here. I highly recommend it - a page-turning 5/5!

""Once more unto the breach...""
Time Riders: City of Shadows is the sixth novel in the series, and in my opinion one of the most illuminating yet. Scarrow has used this book, in a way, to explain all of the questions and niggling little continuity errors from the previous books. But more importantly, Scarrow takes this chance to really get into the minds of the characters, particularly in the light of their most startling discovery yet. Even Waldstein gets his share of the limelight, which is a pleasant turn for those familiar with the series. Sadly, in order to understand this book, reading of Day of the Predator, The Doomsday Code and Gates of Rome is nigh-on essential, however those are all very good books in their own right. If I had to sum up the overhanging tone of the novel, it would of revelations and soldiering on in spite of everything.
