Reader review: The Fault in Our Stars - Hardback - 9780141345635
John Green captures the emotions of teenage love exactly
Phalanxifor, a medicine that shrinks her tumour and prolongs her life, the cancer will never go away. While Hazel is at her support group, she meets Augustus Waters, a cancer survivor. It doesn't take long for them to fall in love. Hazel and Augustus must fight many emotional and physical battles, and although Hazel is scared of getting close to Augustus, knowing she is going to die, nothing can tear them apart. This has got to be the best book so far. This book gives hope, being diagnosed with cancer doesn't mean give up, Hazels story shows that there is always a chance of happiness no matter whether you live with a disease or not. The book is filled with humour as well as sadness and I cried loads at the surprsing end to the story. Most people assume it is only women that write the romantic novels, but John Green had certainly proved them wrong. He captures the emotions of teenage love exactly and makes Hazel and Augustus seem so realistic you start to wonder if they are just fictional or not. I loved this book despite it's sadness and would love to read more by John Green.

I am not one to cry at books and films. The Fault in Our Stars however, reduced me to tears. One of the most beautiful novels I have read in a very long time.

The Fault in Our Stars is worth every moment you'll spend reading and rereading it. It is heartbreaking and uplifting in equal measure, intelligent and profoundly touching. I can't recommend it highly enough.

"I held my breath through parts of this book"

Hazel Grace is the plucky, no-nonsense, kind, witty and wise-cracking heroine we would all like to imagine we would be when confronting terminal illness and the friend we'd love to have alongside us. The reader cannot fail to warm to her and be carried along with her romance with the gorgeous Augustus and their quest to track down the elusive author of the book that has provided the soundtrack to Hazel's life. I held my breath through parts of this book. John Green's writing is stunning.
