""Most popular story we have""

This has been a firm favourite for some time now, firstly with my niece and nephew and now with my own little girl. The gentle rhyming throughout the story make it easy to read and fun to listen to. It is one of few books my 18mnth old will sit still all the way through. She enjoys it so much she even watches the DVD version with her bedtime drink some evenings!! A must buy book for anyone who hasn't already got this it simply lights up a childs eyes as they listen.

Quite possibly the best childrens bedtime book ever. My daughter Holly is almost 2 and adores it. Fo Fo as she calls the Gruffalo. Simply Brilliant.

""Excellent!""

This is an absolutely excellent book for young children. They really get drawn in to the mouse's story... . Mouse scares off an owl, a snake and a fox that fancy mouse for lunch by telling them he's having lunch with a monstrous beast known as "The Gruffalo", who mouse thinks he invented. He then meets the Gruffalo who also fancies mouse for lunch! Mouse manages to persuade the Gruffalo that he (mouse) is scary by retracing his steps and meeting up with the fox, owl and snake who all run away from him. The Gruffalo decides that mouse must be really dangerous and when mouse says he fancies Gruffalo for lunch the Gruffalo runs away. The rhyming verse of this wonderful tail is a delight for parents and children alike. One of my son's absolute favourites!

"My Daughter loves this book"

This has quickly become a firm bed time favourite for my 2 year old daughter. She loves the illustrations and the rhyming. Perfect for bedtime.

"Tip-top bedtime reading!"

Like all the other Donaldson/Scheffler books, this is brilliant for reading to your little one (or not so little one! - my 11 year old still listens in...) at bed-time. There is plenty of humour in the words, as the little mouse tricks a younger member of the Gruffalo family this time around - children seem to love the idea of a tiny little mouse managin to outwit a monster that wants to eat it. I enjoy reading it aloud too, with the opportunity for lots of different voices as the fox, owl and snake of the first story make a repeat appearance, and the rhyme and rhythm are excellent.

"A perfect sequel"

I bought and read this book for my god daughter who's 11 months and she absolutely loved it... As did I!

It was lovely to see her face light up and point out all the little animals as i read it through.

Following on from the adventures of the mouse in the original Gruffalo book, this tells the story of the offspring of the Gruffalo, who's heard all about the 'Big Bad Mouse' and goes bravely to search for the creature, encountering other animals on the way.

Beautifully rhythmic with fabulous illustrations, this is a must have classic of the future surely?

Get this for your little one, it's fabulous!

"Just brilliant!"

One of the best children's books ever written, that my daughter chooses time and time again. A well written witty story that's great to read aloud (as are all Julia Donaldson's books), fabulous illustrations that bring the characters to life, and keeps the reader as amused as the listener.

"read aloud"

A must for all children and adults! A fantastic book to read out loud, children will love to hear you using different voices for the animals! And it won't be long before they're joining in with you, as the story rhymes - sheer brilliance!

Every family should have a copy of the Gruffalo. My daughter, 2, loves it to bits and can finish the sentences. The big, big plus is that it's good enough for the adults to want to read it too - some books are a bit boring for us, aren't they? But your heart won't sink when your child picks this book out to read.

My son, who is 5, and I both love this story. We also have it on CD so he can listen to it to go to sleep. The fact that lines are repeated throughout the story make it easy for children to read. A must for every child!!!!
