About this book

Fans of Christopher Paolini's Eragon series and Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games will be thrilled to discover this epic fantasy from debut author Sarah J. Maas. Originally developed when the author was just 16 years old, Throne of Glass is a phenomenal rip-roaring tale with a deadly and ferocious heroine who is forced to compete in a to-the-death tournament in order to win her freedom. Mingling romance, legend and mystery with an action-packed plot and a feisty and likeable heroine, Throne of Glass is unputdownable!

Reader review: Throne of Glass - Paperback - 9781408832332
"A thoroughly good read"

Celaena Sardothien is a trained assassin, serving a life sentence after getting caught. Young Captain Westfall brings Celaena before Dorian, the Crown Prince of Adarlan, who makes her a proposition that would change her life. She will represent the Prince in a contest between the most talented assassins and thieves in Adarlan. If she wins, she will be freed. But something is killing the champions and Celaena must destroy it, before it destroys her.

I really enjoyed this book. It was funny, intriguing and sometimes terrifying, with a love triangle thrown in for good measure. The plot is complicated but easy to follow. The bad guys are truly hateable and your loyalties are split between the two leading males. I would definitely recommend this to all my friends, it is a thoroughly good read.

"Violence, mystery, romance and magic- what more do you need?"

5

Celaena Sardothien is a beautiful 17-year-old with a mysterious past. She's also the worlds greatest assassin, trained since the age of 8 to become a ruthless killer. Thanks to a fatal mistake, she's serving a life sentence in the brutal salt mines of Endovier when the young (and handsome!) Prince Dorian arrives to offer her a chance of freedom: to compete in a competition to become the kings champion. This book is an awesome read for fans of Eragon, The Hunger Games and pretty much everyone else! There's magic, fighting and romance. I was really glad that, unusually for YA fiction, the women were really strong, relatable characters who don't need a man to protect them. I absolutely love this book (and the online e-novellas) and can't wait for the next!
