- Look Inside

Reynie Muldoon begins this interesting story living in an orphanage. Reynie is exceptionally gifted and when an opportunity to take an exam for gifted children comes up, his tutor, Miss Peruamal, his tutor, doesn't think twice about entering him for it. However, this exam is no ordinary exam and Reynie has no idea how much it will change his life.
After a series of strange and confusing exams, Reynie is eventually introduced to three other children called Kate, Sticky and Constance. These children are taken under the wing of the mysterious Mr. Benedict who has discovered a morbid secret about the way the world is being run. This secret involves messages being transmitted directly into peoples' brains causing them to believe and think certain things. And Mr. Benedict wants the four orphans to discover exactly what is going on.
And so, the four children are transported from a life of loneliness to a life of being secret agents at The Insititute for the Very Enlightened. Though their job is very important and their lives are very exciting, there is no forgetting the dangers that are around every corner at the Institute and they are very nearly caught a few times. Suddenly, the message begin to be transmitted at a higher frequency and the children are suddenly hearing them in their heads. They know something serious is about to happen and they are the only ones able to stop it. So the need for Reynie and Sticky to become messengers, (those students who are allowed to transmit the messages), becomes greater. When the two boys achieve this they discover many concerning thing about the head of the institute, Mr. Curtain, and know that they must do something soon. And of course this book has a very happy ending!
The Mysterious Benedict Society is a great book. It is a really interesting and gripping tale with many twists and turns that keep you reading. By the end of the book, I felt really connected to the characters and know that anybody who reads this will feel the same way and enjoy the book enormously. A fantastic book that everybody will enjoy.
