Pip is an orphan who lives with the monks at Wickit Monastery. The monastery is set on the Fenlands and this story is set in medieval England. What starts of as an annual visit to Ely Cathedral to get more supplies turns into an adventure in which Pip has to save King Arnald from being poisoned by his enemies. But this adventure is sometimes more like a nightmare as Pip crosses the marshy Fenland in the dead of night trying to get the king to safety at Wickit Monastery. And the only thing Pip can rely on is his friend, Perfect, who just happens to be a stone gargoyle who can breath fire, swim and fly (strange but true)!
