Dear Mortal Reader,

Beware! Open the pages of the books listed on the site, and there is no telling where they will transport you.

Certainly I had no idea where my own book, The Lightning Thief, would take me. When I first told my son the story of Percy Jackson, a boy who discovers his father is a Greek god, I had no idea it would become a novel, much less win the Red House Children's Book Award. Since then, the Percy Jackson books have taken on a life of their own. Who knew the Greek gods were still so powerful in the twenty-first century, or that mythological monsters are still among us, hunting for young demigod heroes to destroy?

That's the great thing about books. They can transform the world into something new, as long as the readers believe. And that's why winning the Red House Children's Book Award was such an honour for me. The award is decided by your votes. Red House books are books that kids believe in, and after all, children are the best judges of children's literature. That's also why I'm sure you'll enjoy the books listed in this catalogue. They are all kid-approved. Red House books have humour, adventure, wonderful surprises – everything you could want!

Explore them. Try something new. Dive in. Reading is the ultimate adventure. It can take you anywhere and let you imagine worlds far more dazzling than any movie, video game or television show. Find out for yourself!

Best wishes from Mount Olympus,

Rick Riordan
